  • I give up!  Except that I know I won’t be inhaling the “magical” amount anymore!  I have freed myself from the shackles that was my addiction!

  • Um, it’s not truth.

  • They’re all awesome.

  • Am I missing something? Should it be playing? Showing some amazing answer to this crazy question?

Fairy’s and Unicorns are myths that most do not believe in…

  • http://www.thetruth.com/ to see the video actually working

  • I think they’re all addictive and you don’t have to be busy with it for too long because you will stick to it forever.
Too deep and abnormal, my thoughts? ö

  • The government shouldn’t be spending money to advertise against them.

  • I do not know what a cigarette, fairy or unicorn have in common. Please let me know the answer when you find out.

  • if you do not want to smoke, then do not smoke

I think everybody knows that you can get cancer or many other health problems if you do smoke, but smoking also feels good, it quells hunger and helps you relax

  • Hello Truth,
I like your site that you worked hard to make more interesting than most. The pictures and videos are a nice touch. I see that you have an important message for us. So do I!
I like to write articles about God and religion on my site to help people to really get to know God, especially in these troubled times.14 When the good news about the kingdom has been preached all over the world and told to all nations, the end will come. (Matthew 24:14) (CEV) I hope you get a chance to look at them.

  • After seeing this commercial the first time, I turned to my mom and said, “Truth commercials would be a lot more effective if they weren’t stupid.”  I guess that’s what happens when the tobacco companies are funding the campaign designed to take them down…

  • They are all marketing ploys designed to hurt a major American industry and promote terrorism, and possibly anti-family values depending on which state you live in.

No seriously, after I get my teeth scaled next month, AGAIN?

    Im quitting.

I don’t even smoke much now. I got my last carton in November? Down to a pack and a half. My daily fag just makes me sick now.

  • quitting smoking was the best thing my husband and i ever did…

as for the cigarette, fairy, and unicorn… they are all marketed as fun and harmless and to kids? just guessing.

  • This advertising thing is sorta wrong because small kids might see the fairy and unicorn and hear “useful cigarette”. They’ll think its good for them and try them. I saw the commerical on G4 and it totally looked targeted around kids like 6 or 7.

Um the fairy and the unicorn are friends and they hate cigarettes?

  • fire?? eh, dont know how to fit the fairy into that one.

  • Ok, I’m going to get harassed for this I know but I don’t care…

First off — I AM a smoker. I know the risk. I know personally because they are killing me. I’m NOT addicted to cigarettes, nor do I HAVE to have them. I smoke, because i want to. I agree that companies tend to advertise to kids, and a lot of what your saying.

    But just a thought….

    1) Yeah, they may kill 1,200 people daily… but that’s really not that much. At all.  Compared to all the other things out there. Yeah, it’s bad. But then again living kills 100% of all victims. If your a live your a eventual statistic in some survey on how your died.

    2) I respect that this is becoming a more “non-smoker friendly” country… And that you all do educate a lot of naive children and adults upon the dangers of smoking.  But will you please… STOP  ramming it down our throats. Yes, a lot of us still smoke. Yes, we know the risk. But I can’t express how annoying it is to have people quote what I know to me. I personally choose to, Yeah it may kill me, but I choose that. I understand these “Breath easy” Stickers on different places. I also respect that others do not smoke. I actually usually politely put my cigarette out if they look disturbed by my doing so. I DO NOT blow smoke in your face, smoke out a room, or try to change yours views. SO I would kindly request Quit treating use like damn scum. You smother us in your own views and don’t let us have ours.  So yeah there will ALWAYS be smokers even if it was illegal, and most of us, want to be left alone.

3)Your unfair.  I get that you have these views about smoking and that quiting is the smart thing to do. We’ve all read the SURGEON GENERAL’S WARNING. But you have every right to bash the cigarette companies, talk down on them publicly, slander them, and say what you please about them. Yet, They can’t say a thing back. They can’t advertise to people, the most advertisement they can have is gas station prices. So, that might explain why they pay people to help them. Because they can’t help themselves. I agree that it is very wrong to advertise to children. But they really have no choice to advertise to anyone. So don’t say that they only pay people off to help them (which I don’t doubt they have done), because ANY business would do the same thing if they and no rights as a company.

    4) Cigarette’s smoke may be toxic, but guess what so is air. The Air you breath every day is just as toxic. All the same Chemicals, as well as an armada more. Same with your Water. Your Food. Your Bed. Your EVERYTHING. Scary? if people knew the chemicals in EVERYTHING else in the world… everyone would live in  bubble. That is until they found the chemicals in it. Yeah, sure, there are hundreds of diseases from the smoke, but there are also a hundred disease from the air in general. 2nd hand smoke isn’t that bad, unless your like not even a foot away.  So if your going to scare people be fair tell them the risk of living each day.

I will probably get lots of negative comments and feedback on this. But I felt the need to state this. I am a smoker, but I encourage people I know who haven’t started or tried it to never start. I understand what you all are trying to do. As well as respect it. But the latter points I felt should be stated.

And if your going to quote me, quote everything, don’t chop my words up to sound good, bad, or what ever.

    ~Raven Despret~

  • They All Suck..
    Trust Me..
    I Know This…

  • yeah Raven you really Fuxd up…  this isn’t how you address these people. watch…
Whether I am a smoker or not does not matter, because truth is not subjective to myself. Cigarettes, and cigarette companies do not, nor are they responsible for killing anyone. the well being of the individual is the.. “individual’s” responsibility.

As far as the children, well  the state shouldn’t be involved at all, the age of being able to smoke should be determined by the parent, and by the policies of the manufacturer and the retailer. I can not find where the state has any business in it, but then this is in an ideal world. but given the fact that it is illegal, that means the ads of this “truth” are geared toward grown adults, and as such, are pretty damn insulting.

Its also an attack on personal liberty and property rights for the states to criminalize smoking in bars and restaurants. a violation of the owner, if the state paid for the business it would be different… but they don’t they just want to make the rules, and thats rude.

your next paragraph about how the cigarette companies’ hands have been tied. thats pretty good, I would have gone just a little bit further about how censorship is the seed of tyrannies and that Hitler put out propaganda against smokers and wouldn’t let tobacco companies take out any ads in response.  also the position of Surgeon General is an unconstitutional one at the federal level. see 10th amendment, and the rest of the document.

and from there out it just sorta fizzles.
now… the question is. how is truth funded, and what is their goal?
if their goal is merely to help people make an educated choice, thats fine… even if they are a bit obnoxious when doing it.
but I’m afraid they are government funded or sancioned and survive on the blood of tobacco companies, and worse yet, they are interested in criminalizing smoking virtually everywhere… and this is very bad.

oh one more point that should have been made…. look at how messed up the world is. there are pregnant teenagers, kids hooked on drugs or mixed up in gangs. britney spears is a role model….  and some 17 yr old smokes a camel. is that really our greatest concern? Is it Truth that smoking is the worst problem we have in this country? worse than pedophiles, or sex predators? identity theft or fraud? and that if you can only dedicate your time and resources to one thing it wouldn’t be curing breast cancer, or actually helping in the life of a troubled kid… it would just be to make cigarettes unappealing to him.. as if that is the soul root of all his life’s problems.
    What the Fux up?

  • (Aw, I like that fairy)  They all have magic in common!  =D   Except cigarettes are the black death kind of magic.

  • I was going to be sarcastic and say Puff the magic Dragon for some odd reason when I saw the question. Unicorns and faeries have to do with magic and cigarettes reminded me of smoke…then yeah…all the sudden Puff the Magic Dragon came to mind.

  • don’t smoke cigarettes, kids! do acid instead!

  • They are all totally freaking awesome and people should stop giving me shxt for liking them.

  • yes stop smoking cigarettes!! graduate to higher drugs!!!!

  • Your ads are condescending, your tone is overly preachy, your message gets lost in the hype, your writers make the ones at Fox look good.

    My “featured question” to Truth?

What does “Truth”, “Britney Spears”, and the sacks of manure being unloaded behind my apartment have in common?

I’m tired of hearing that sh….. you know.

NOW HIT MY PYRO, AND PLAY MY MUSIC.

  • Simple, they represent some third-rate propagandists’ attempts at
talking like a Dawkins/Hitchens fan trying to equate epistemically
invalid conceptions with tobacco lobbyist’s lies.  The purpose of which
is to manipulate a mass audience into the non sequiter that all tobacoo
products are evil. Tobacco lobbyists are liars and are paid by the big
evil corporation to lie to us to make us smoke more–therefore tobacco
is a necessary evil, or even evil by association (a separate logical
    fallacy.)

  • They all cause cancer! YAY!!

  • cigarettes, talking unicorns, and fairies … what do they have in common … let me think.

Two are mythical, one is factual.  Two are pretty harmless, one is toxic.  The unicorns and the fairies can, if taken to extremes, stimulate something in the brain that may lead to a preference for separating from reality but ultimately isn’t fatal; the cigarette stimulates something in the brain that often leads to a demand for more of the same.

Consumption of talking unicorns and fairies is only a pleasant pass-time that is often out-grown; consumption of tobacco products that begins as a pleasant pass-time and is not out-grown.

Based on this line of thinking, there’s nothing in common between the mythical creatures and the cigarette.  Nothing.

  • they all have an influence on children????

  • they both have an influence on children?

  • What the fuck?
How does a worthless propaganda machine get so much attention?
These people have no point to make.
Every single thing they say is flawed, wholly inaccurate,
    or completely goddamned ridiculous.
    Magical unicorns!
    Way to lose credibility, assfucks.
Get a real message and tell people what they don’t already know.
    Cigarettes? Harmful? Shocking!
    Not really.
Get real jobs and stop being idiot-puppets.

  • Truth, I normally like you cause I can deal with the truth, but shut up already. Geez!! I have to go smoke now. Thanks.

  • @Xxpsyce_ravenxX -

i see where you’re coming from, but okay. so if the well being of the
individual is the individual’s responsibilty and you’re
choosing to kill yourself, isn’t that
    suicide? and isn’t suicide
    illegal?

  • that was meant to be a response to swampydonkey.

  • but yes i agree that “truth” is trying to shove their opinions down people’s throats. but their name is not “gentle truth” or “watered down truth” or “sort-of truth”. it’s “truth”. plain and simple. they may be harsh and blunt about it, but everything they are saying is TRUE. smoking is bad for you. i’m not a smoker, but even the smokers who replied to this said it’s bad. that’s all these people who started the advertising campaign are trying to say.

  • They are designed to appeal to youth.

  • @l0ND0N_x3 - yes i agree, completely. And I honestly believe that they should. I mean yeah if all the kids are going to quit smoking prices my raise. But I don’t care about that. And I also commend you on the severity of truth. I understand that  they are trying to get people to realize the dangers.  I would help them get kids to quit smoking. I mean I’m slightly hypocritical in that since I’ve been smoking since I was 11. But I had my reasons. yet that’s not an excuse. I think they should target kids and reach to them more/ My comment was a simple inferal  to the fact that. A lot of us who choose to smoke understand what it can do and dangers. We don’t want to be forcefully submitted to having this information drilled into us.

And not to sound morbid, but electing to kill your self with cigarettes is technically a suicide. But then again so is waking up each morning.

    ~Raven~

  •  I think that if these commercials offend you then maybe those people should think about why it has that affect on them. If you know smoking is bad for you and you don’t care I don’t see why this should be any different. No I don’t think they are not trying to shove their opinions down anyones throat, they’re simply trying to creatively show people how manipulative tobacco companies are and expose them. No one is forcing you to quit smoking and if you feel bad after watching these commercials maybe it has something to do with your own guilt and fear. Why would you badmouth them? Maybe it makes you feel better about yourselves.. if thats the case then I don’t know what to tell you. I respect a person’s right to choose to smoke or not as well as I respect a persons right to  communicate positive information.

  • think of how ironic it is that someone said these commercials were stupid, and watch an old 50′s tobacco commercial and then say something.

Now heres the million dollar question. Would you rather watch a stupid commercial that lies to you,
Or a “stupid” commercial that tells you the truth.

  • @Xxpsyce_ravenxX -

now thats where i disagree. waking up each morning is NOT suicide. why? because waking up each morning and living your life until you die is different than making the choice and forcing death upon yourself. this is from dictionary.com:

    “suicide ; su-i-cide
    –noun

    1. the intentional taking of one’s own life.
    2. a person who intentionally takes his or her own life- verb (used without object)
    3. to commit suicide – verb (used with object)
    4. to kill (oneself).”

are you saying that by living we are intentionally taking our own lives?

  • @swampydonkey -

Your trying to go border line anarchist of a futile matter. You are blowing that WAY out of proportion. Though you do make excellent points in some instances, you take it the wrong way… example:

First off: It IS the states responsibility. There is this nice little thing where in the United States you are a minor until the age of 18. This means your have NO say in your own personal being. you can’t go to the doctor unless your guardians allow it. So not smoking until the age of 18 makes perfect sense. Your not legally allowed to do something that can potentially do irreparable damage to a persons being  until you are allowed to make choices about your own being (by that I mean legal choices). This is a great argument for lowering the drinking age to about 18. But otherwise is a mute point.

Second Off: What the fuck are you talking about? Most stores that have bared smoking form their establishments in an attempt to retain the same amount of costumers as before this whole non-smoking mission took off. They do it them selves the “breath-easy” stickers I referred to are a way of letting people know what to expect. I do understand that some states have banned smoking in some places. But read your state’s laws they have their logical reasons for such. so this is another mute point.

Third Off: This is probably the stupidest statement I’ve read in a long time, and I’ve seen some stupid ones. So congrats.  The 10th Amendment has this lovely little COMMERCE CLAUSE which regulates the trade between states. SO guess what they ARE allow to require a Surgeon General warning.  and the reason that it is even on the ones traded in the state their made is basic print principle. IT”S CHEAPER. It would cost to much to make separate packs for separate states and it takes up room on the box so that’s less the printer has to do and less money charged to the company. and your an idiot to compare censorship to Hitler. DO you even know why they aren’t suppose to advertise? hmm? All I stated was that they should either have some leeway of defending themselves against bias. so another mute point

Fourth Off: Though I do slightly agree that is kind of messed up to have Anti-Smoking campaign funded by tobacco companies. But hey moneys money, and the fact that the companies are having to pay TRUTH is actually more a positive then a negative. The MSA the companies wanted to save them has become their own bane. Oh, and by the way. the Companies don’t actually pay TRUTH. They pay the ALF, which funds Truth. So yeah they may have started on the “blood” of Tobacco Companies, but their big enough now that even without the MSA they could most likely receive many donations from Executives and Celeberties looking for Tax Exempt Status. So another Mute point.

Fifth Off: Yeah, the world is severly messed up. trust me I know. I probably know better then most people. Cause I don’t sit at home and get scared by the news or any of that crap. I was there I was in the middle of it all.  Maybe smoking isn’t the biggest problem out there. Maybe we should focus on the other things more. But did you ever notice that it kinda all coincedes.  We don’t pick off this person or that. Cops don’t look to fill a quota. If it’s ILLEGAL then they should face the consequences. Most cops actually just remove the tobacco from a minor instead of charging them with a M.I.P.T.  so yeah there is a lot of leeway for them. I used to agree with you that smoking isn’t a big concern and wondered why Truth never targeted the pot, or heroine, or any other of drug sects. But guess what most kids don’t actually know the dangers of smoking. They think it’s a game. They don’t realize what it can really do. So more power to them for sticking to their campaign. Sure we have lots of messed up people, and many need to be dealt with. But Truth’s money is NOT wasted, trust me they have saved lives.  By the way, there is no soul root to the problem of a teenager. It’s called hormonal imbalances, mainly thyroid.  And there are kids who can go through a tough time without smoking. I will say it helped me some. but not enough to matter. So that’s another mute point.

So yeah… There’s your argument summed up. Not quite by me but by a bunch of facts. Don’t try to take my views, and turn them into your own anarchratic methods. It’s not the government. Your trying to say that truth is a pointless organization and all this other crap, and your just flat out wrong. so in case you missed it here was the point I made earlier.

I COMPLETELY agree with TRUTH, they target KIDS to try to teach them about smoking. I simply STATED in my previous comment that I understand that but to leave the rest of us who know and are educated ALONE.

This isn’t some communist organization, some government ploy, or a “why your life sucks” group. This is a simple group that is doing a decent job (aside from my previous statements). Your an Absolute idiot for trying to refer and Anti-smoking campaign with Government Over Involvement and Control.

Oh and please so the world a favor… STOP Butchering the English Language. “Fux” is NOT a word.

    ~Raven Despret~

  • I agree with swampydonkey and Xxpsyce_ravenxX, I smoke and I HATE the truth comericals, Ive heard it all a thousand times, infact, when one comes on TV I change the chanel just so I dont have to listen to them belittle me for smoking.

  • @l0ND0N_x3 -

Yes I am saying that we commit suicide every day by living. That dictionary reference is proof.
It’s all in how you look at it. It’s basic half-empty half-full philosophy. Just on a more morbid level. Yes, though the common definition of suicide is the “immediate” taking of one’s life, the actually definition  is  “Taking One’s Own Life…”  By choosing to wake up every morning, and live your life to the fullest, you are inevitably electing to kill yourself. A lot slow may it be but still killing your self. Yeah we may be living but, unless your immortal, every day you live is not a day you’ve gained, but in fact a day you’ve lost in your life. And by that simple equation… Every day you live you in fact die, therefore every day you continue to live, you personally elect to come another day closer to death.

I hate this philosophy, I really do. But it’s a sad truth that if you think about it… every death is a suicide. Because the choices we make up until the moment we die  build up to that moment… whether it’s to live your life to the fullest and elect to let your body break down, choose to do something or go somewhere that ends up as a “Wrong place Wrong time” accident, or to take your own life by a less mysterious mean.

So really the only way to not commit an act of suicide in the modern society, is simply not to live.

    ~Raven~

  • Here’s a better one, ‘kidz’.

What does a shallow attempt at brainwashing children subliminally with a campaign called “Truth“, an obesity causing bunch of slobs called Burger King and an obscenely environmentally damaging company called Virgin Atlantic have in common….

I’ll make it easy for you : THEY’RE ALL RUN BY CRISPIN, PORTER AND BOGUSKY who peddle double whoppers to your children. Sleep tight.

    http://www.cpbgroup.com

  • @Xxpsyce_ravenxX - that’s where you’re wrong. living is not you actually killing yourself, it’s a natural death. you/re body dies because it has to. not because you made it.

  • I know I know! They all kill thousands of people! (what else do you think unicorns have horns?)

  • I really like these commercials, I think they’re hilarious. I’m not trying to bash smokers or anything, they’re just funny.

  • THEY ARE ALL PART OF MY FETISH

  • @l0ND0N_x3 - Good point, but isn’t allowing your body to break down the same as letting yourself die? Which isn’t letting yourself die still the same as killing yourself?

But you are right, with excellent reason and point.

  • I was reading Xxpsyce_ravenxX and l0ND0N_x3′s argument. I couldn’t keep my mouth shut, sorry. I agree with l0ND0N_x3. And most likely, I won’t be back here to debate anymore, so a response won’t be needed.

Just gonna throw this out there….

You don’t CHOOSE to let your body break down. It’s NATURAL, and we as people can’t prevent that from happening. You CHOOSE to smoke, and shorten your life. What if you do everything you can to live as long as possible? That is not suicide, no matter how you look at it. Don’t even try to rebuttle again… all you’d be doing now is mindlessly debating an issue you know you’ve lost.

    Have a great day guys.

  • hear hear, raven.

  • They all contain drugs

  • they all smell bad?

  • Kids think all 3 are cool!

  • i’m on swampydonkey and raven’s side.

  • this song is a great way to teach ppl about cigs. me and my friends did a skit at school and the next day every1 was singing it. it even got a few kids to stop

  • I’m hoping that like Fairies and Unicorns , cigarettes will one day just be in peoples imagination. I only smoked once in my life, when I was 8 and didn’t like it. Everyone else in my family are smokers. So far, I have lost 3 family members to cancer,2 of them were younger than I am now when they died.

  • They all shouldn’t or don’t exist

  • They all appeared in my dream where I saw a naked Alan Rickman on rollerskates kick Harry Potter in the gonads. I don’t think that’s the answer you’re looking for, though.

Don’t smoke cigarettes, kids. Masturbate and drop acid instead!

  • They speak the truth.

  • they are all awesome

the magical amount commercial makes no fucking sense..your “Truth” company has gotten way too cocky… hating it byeeeeeeeeee

  • I don’t get the little movie clip….

  • dear everyone that has been “butchering the english language,”

    1. your. possessive. your commercials remind me it’s time for a smoke break.
    2. you’re. contraction for “you are.” you’re demeaning and pretentious.

    thanks.

  • theyre all annoying as hell if your within 5 meters of them

  • They all piss me off, that’s what they have in common.  Hey!  Just like Truth and all of their commercials.  So the message is that if we don’t stop smoking Truth will keep annoying us with old news and more exaggerated numbers.  Maybe in ten years we’ll figure out the death toll from cigarettes will be 500 million.  It’s just getting bigger and bigger.  I wonder when the Truth the movie is coming out and I can get some Truth action figures.  Anybody play that stupid keytar game?  I like to ramble.
