always thought saying words WAS taking an action in some sense. but physical- action is much louder than anything else.
Congrats on the featured question!
At times, both.
Actions will always speak louder than words…….. Talk is cheap!! Congrats of the “Featured Question”!!!
What does this picture have to do with it?
To anyone who will listen, I have a wonderful way to handle smoking.
Inform everyone that in three weeks, anti-smoking products like patches and gum and other such nonsense will be taken off the market. I suspect most will continue to smoke. This isn’t a problem.
Once you take every anti-smoking product away from the public and cease their manufactury, let darwinism take its course for just a little while. Maybe make cigarettes a bit cheaper, let the people who insist on breathing smoke do so, and allow it to make them ill. A sick method, but it’s not as though you’re doing it for them. They had their chance to quit.
After about five months, for one week, put the anti-smoking products back on the market, tell them that after this last stint, they will never be available again. Keep that promise. Those who take up smoking or continue to smoke are subject to face Darwin in the afterlife.
I wouldn’t call your method “wonderful” but it does present an intriguing new way to deal with smokers. There are holes in your method, however. What about pregnant women that smoke? Should their unborn babies be subject to stinted growth and suffer a lower quality of life because their mothers chose to be irresponsible? Does it apply to those who must tolerate second-hand smoke? What about the people that want to quit but just can’t seem to break away no matter what they try to do, including anti-smoking products?
@Meowmeowkimmaee - Valid flaws, it is true. The pregnant women who smoke either chose not to quit when the chance was presented or started when the chance was gone. I find it difficult to have sympathy for these girls, only because it is apparent that if they wanted to quit smoking they could have, with the method described. I don’t see why they’d suddenly stop smoking if the push on them to do so was less. Second-hand smoke is, of course, a terrible thing to be subjected to. If the person that is smoking had any care at all, they would have stopped smoking on their two oppritunities. Obviously this is not a good person to be around if you have a problem with the second hand smoke. Inconsiderate, indeed. I’m very disappointed in the smoker’s conduct. Something you should definently take up with him. Even so, to quit smoking just by stopping isn’t the worst of fates. If you really want to quit smoking, it can be done. And as for the last thing, the people who can’t quit won’t quit, anti-smoking products or not. This change should not affect their fragile worlds.
We could ponder and wonder about the possibilities of your theoretical movement to end smoking, but who are we kidding? Smoking is everywhere and in the time span from now to before we die, it is intangible to enforce such a radical movement onto the world of smokers and non-smokers alike. The change is just so great, and the addiction so strong. What can we do? Truth helps, sure, but what can WE do?
Definitely action Well when i say this i am actually thinking of a hug from a loving friend when we are depressed
I answered your featured question. *sigh*

@Meowmeowkimmaee - We can do what we’ve hopefully been doing. Not smoke ourselves, and teach those close to us, younger than, the ones that look up to us, the reasons why they should not, the harm it causes your body and mind, among friends, and people who care about you.
That is what we can do. To attempt to enforce anything else yourself is daft. It is always for people to decide for themselves, always. Whether or not we make that decision more dramatic for those who already inhale smoke in their free time anyway, I, still, have little sympathy.
Well let me see. An advertising company who’s most appropriate slogan would be “don’t die of cancer, die of obesity and heart disease !!“…..
Actions.
I believe that action is more powerful. Words are nothing without action. For example, telling someone not to smoke can be effective. However, if you then smoke, which would be your action, your words lose all meaning.
Many children and teens are influenced by movies. When an actor smokes on screen it will have as great an effect, if not a greater effect, than the actor saying “SMOKE!”
So, yeah. Actions are more powerful than words.
There is that saying that Actions do speak louder than words… so don’ t talk about it, be about it
I say actions are more powerful than words
I think actions are more louder than words.
Hm. Very complex question, if you think about it. I answered it, but I believe my answer is too long for a comment.
It’s on my site.
your face
This is kind of sad but I believe what you do speaks volumes above what you say because people so many people are basically liars that you really can’t always trust what they are telling you to be the “truth.” So when someone physically does something I think it shows alot about the person that they are not just alot of talk…
Well, you know what they say: The pen is mightier than the sword. Although, they also say that actions speak louder than words. So… Hm.
They are just a bunch of jerks.
Actions speak louder than words.
If someone acted like a complete poo to you and then said “sorry” and did it again, it wouldn’t make up for it.
Actions are what you remember at the end of the day, I think.

actions
actions without a doubt, because everyone at one point or another in their lives have just said what they believe people want to hear, it’s not as easy to do that with actions. They kind of speak for themselves.
i’d say words
actions
ie: if you say i love you then turn around and do the exact opposite you believe what they “said” with their actions.
lets face it, talk is cheap.
Actions are more powerful than words. But words come really close. I live by the principle that actions speak louder than words. I am always catering to the needs of my girlfriend, but I hardly ever say that I love her. When I do, those three words have a powerful effect. So tell me, what IS more powerful? Everyday actions of love? or occasional oral reassurances?
actions all the way. ive never knocked someone unconsious by calling them a douchebag but im pretty sure its possible if i threw a brick at them!
that kinda depend on the situation i guess, anyw.. cute blog!(:
Words are powerful. Words appear on advertising and marketed by sales associates and others. Words are what catches people’s attention to listen through commercials and word of mouth.
Actions, they come second. Monkey see. Monkey do.
Both. One has only to study the history of the Third Reich and the Russian Revolution to see that powerful words equal horrific actions. The dramatic speeches and propaganda handed down by both dictatorships resulted in the slaughter of millions.
Why are you so absurd?
Actions speak louder than words, but the pen is mightier than the sword?

Really you gotta put them together.
