  • No! They should be forced to just like all of the other drug and food companies. They probably pay off the FDA so that they don’t have too…White collar criminals….

  • well fair is fair.
now here is the problem though, I think everyone knows smoking is a big health risk, so it would be nice to see a list of additives just like on everything else, it wouldn’t really make much difference.

  • Is it fair that you can advertise with cartoons and cigarette companies can’t?

  • @stuartandabby - of course it’s fair. Cartoons target children. Is it okay for cigarette companies to advertise a drug to children?

  • I’m not sure what those are but no.

  • They do in Canada. On My Xanga I posted scan pictures of my pack of cigarettes. Yummy!

There’s Tar, Nicotine, Carbon Monoxide, Formaldehyde, Hydrogen Cyanide, Benzene…..

    -Janelle

  • Yes, because even if they do list the ingredients that are used, it wouldn’t make much of a difference anyway. People are still going to buy cigarettes.

  • it is true that we do all know cigerettes are bad. people are going to do what they want to. although yes it should be told on the package.

  • i donot think that it is fair at all that other products do but cigs do not have to that really sucks for the peeps that smoke cigs.

  • While I do agree that tobacco companies should be forced to list all additives, I still think that Truth is a pile of shit.  I’m getting sick of seeing your bullshit feature questions being listed on the front page — having gone through the queue of questions, I’ve noticed quite a few thought-provoking ones that are being passed over for your idiotic bullshit.  We get it, tobacco is bad — now kindly fuck on off.

  • I think this is a brilliant ad campaign. Way to go, cigarettes.

  • Leave us the fuck alone!  Go away, truth, we all hate you here!

  • maybe because you don’t eat cigs. Not that I am in favor of them.
    Quit 10 1/2 YEARS AGO~! YEAH ME!

  • Here’s a better question: Is it fair that TRUTH is taking over Xanga
and shoving the idealogical views down my throat at every turn? The
    correct answer is no!

Granted I think the started out with
this great idea of bringing awareness to people about how bad cigarettes
really are and how many underage children are smoking them, but still I
don’t care anymore. Their ads are just the same old information that we
all knew when we were in the 5tht grade and it is not making an impact.
Here’s a better idea TRUTH, why don’t you tone it down and start
showing the effects of ALL drugs on people? Hey lets not stop there,
lets show the affects of alcohol and driving too . You want to make an
impact? Start with the things that are the real problems and quit
telling me all about the shit I already know about.

    UPDATE:

    I
would like to add to my rant here that the main reason that I am really
getting fed up with TRUTH is this: So it happened to be one of those
rare occasions when I actually was watching MTV the other day. I don’t
know the name of the show but it was clearly about addiction and about
overcoming it, you know the works. So as I am watching this scene in
which a guy is basically having a complete and total breakdown, those
stupid little characters that TRUTH has recently adopted pop on screen
and begin to totally rip the guy apart. I mean we are talking about
everything from the choices he has made to the clothes on his back.

    Now
I am sorry, no wait I am not, but if someone is going through as hard
of a time overcoming an addiction as this guy clearly was, they don’t
need some stupid ass cartoon character harrasing them about it. It just
shows me that TRUTH clearly is out to low ball anyone they can to make
a point. Granted the guy made a few bad decisions  but he made up for
those by trying to clean himself up. I say the ditch the stupid cartoon
characters and grow up because it is clear their message isn’t working
and people are getting tired of them if they have to stoop to such
tactics to get their message out.

  • @sarahb_86 - you already posted a link earlier

  • @xEndxThexPainx -

True, but I know the TRUTH people won’t go and read it so I brought it to them . Yeah I know kinda bitchy…….

  • @xEndxThexPainx -

    Oh, and credited what writer?

  • @sarahb_86 - yeah true, but i doubt they read comments either.

as for the original writer, sorry, i hadn’t realized at that point that you were the original lol.

  • If Crispin Porter & Bogusky are talking about “being fair and listing additives”, why aren’t they informing us that Coke Zero, which they market, contains a chemical used for rust removal, along with the fact that whilst they claim Coke Zero is “not a diet drink”, it in fact IS a diet drink. This would make them….”liars”. But nooo, it’s only those nasty wasty tobacco companies who lie to you…isn’t it..?

  • @xEndxThexPainx -

Yeah I realized that was what you meant after I sent that. No prob. :)

  • definitely not fair…

  • Well thanks to your frustrating ad campaign I’m sure most people know that tobacco is bad for them – no one’s in the dark anymore!
And I have to wonder how much money you waste on all of these commercials, maybe you could’ve donated to a cancer research center and tried to actually make a difference! A clever commercial can’t change the world.

  • No, OK, cigarettes are bad, but FREE MARY JANE!

  • It’s not fair.

  • You guys DO realize that Truth is funded by the tobacco companies, right? Please, don’t tell me you guys didn’t know that… Truth’s campaign is run by the American Legacy Foundation. A foundation which is supposedly “anti-smoking.” Anti-smoking, HA. The foundation even includes Philip Morris (along with several large tobacco companies). Philip Morris, a man responsible for the death of millions upon millions. Guilty conscience? Not likely. This murderer only had to create the foundations and etc, due to a master settlement agreement, a compilation of suit against the tobacco industries. Truth is dedicated to raising awareness of the dangers of smoking, and yet at the same time the people who fund this organization are also putting out ads to get people to smoke. Therefore, everything that Truth states, I would take with a grain of salt.

  • Ugh. stop hacking xanga and just let me get to my home page. yeah… cigarettes are bad… we get it.

  • its ridiculous. big tobacco is in bed with the govt erlack

  • what about alcohol? i don’t see the ingredients on alcohol bottles. are you just going to let them get away with it?

  • Hmm, seems like it should be listed.

  • same for beer.  it should be a legal requirement.

  • maybe if truth got rid of those fricking annoying cartoons and songs, they might be able to actually encourage people to stop smoking.

  • Meh.  They could list them, but no one would care.  I doubt that there are any additives that would make me want to quit.  And if the additives were THAT scary, I’d just start smoking natural cigs or rolling my own.
