In 1979, Big Tobacco supplied their product to be shot in the G-rated "Muppet movie." Is this because Muppets are huge chain smokers or is there maybe another reason?

No way. It probably had to deal with selling the idea to little kids. Trying to make it look cool. Plus, parents watch those movies too. So it sells it to the whole audience of practically everyone that it's cool.

In 1979 there was no regulation about who could buy tobacco products.

The purpose behind it seems rather obvious.

Hmm...maybe it's because the movies not only have to appeal to children but to their parents as well. I think people should stop making such a big deal over smoking. Here's some advice, if you don't like don't do it. If you don't like that other people do it then hey, don't hang around those people. If you don't like that people are doing in public restraunts, bars, parks, etc why not go some where? Seriously, no one is forcing you to be around these people.

Yet the legalize narcotics...hmm.....
