  • Chalk Outlines

If someone gets murdered, it’s on TV and in the newspapers. But every year, tobacco companies’ products kill over 20 times more people than murder does.  Lucky we had a lot of chalk.

Comments (111)

  • Those people still chose to smoke and it was their decision to make, not yours.

Tobacco companies have just as much of a right to make money as the anti-tobacco lobby does. Of course, your organization would know that, considering that its birth was the result of settling with the litigious Florida government.

When are you going to write posts about factual errors such as Project SCUM?

By the way, poverty kills more people in the world than smoking, substance abuse, obesity, murder, or suicide. Just an actual fact there.

  • Talk about saturation and potentially successful marketing.

  • You know what, BadnarikChick, a lot of people who choose to smoke are unaware, and they’re addicted. It’s also one’s decision to murder and steal. That doesn’t make that okay. And just because poverty kills more people than all that jazz does doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try to stop deaths from smoking as well. It’s still an issue that can be solved, and Truth is doing a pretty good job of raising awareness. I’m all for it.

  • ^^ I agree.

  • You know… I might have to use you guys to start pimping my blog this way. Just randomly mark streets, sidewalks, and buildings with an X. Too bad you can’t create hyperlinked graffiti.

    XINERGY

  • My dad smoked like a chimney and is trying to quit.
But I can’t go and blame the companies if he gets cancer.
It was his decision to smoke and he knew the outcomes.
What you guys are doing is great for awareness but you almost make it sounds like the people were forced to smoke, so really this campaign won’t make a huge difference because I know TONS of kids at my school who smoke and could care less what you or anyone else says :
Plus knowing a smokers, they aren’t going to quit just because you say they’re going to die from it.
And I agree with Bad, how about you guys go out and actually campaign something that can be controlled and is not someone’s decision.

  • If there is actually somebody out there who smokes but doesn’t understand, at the very least, that it is bad and can kill you I just hope they keel over before they have a chance to reproduce.

That level of ignorance should not be allowed to procreate.

I understand your intentions are, or at least appear to be, generally good – but, as mentioned above, there are many things worse out there worse than smoking. I have a feeling the kind of people who feel the need to bludgeon others with anti-somethingorother campaigns are also the type of people who felt Prohibition was a good idea.

I challenge the Truth campaign –
How many people have been approached about smoking, informed of the dangers, and been completely surprised? I’m looking for a real, tangible statistic. It can even be watered down by being taken from a pool of, say, the entire population of the United States. How many people have been completely shocked to learn that what they are doing is hazardous to their health? They may not know all of the facts and they might actually learn something from you, but how many had NO idea?

If there are none, then what good is this really doing? Wouldn’t it be much more effective to work WITH the tobacco industry to help educate? I’m sure they don’t want to mass market their products as baby-killers, but they also aren’t out there to kill their customers.

ps – “Tobacco companys’ products” didn’t kill anybody. The people who chose to use them killed themselves, and most likely understood that danger. This whole thing seems like a very strongarmed method of reminding people of what they’re trying to not think about, namely the effects of their actions now about 40 years down the road. Good luck with that.

  • I wonder if you guys are just going to delete all of the negative/controversial comments… Wouldn’t be a very effective way of stimulating intelligent conversation…

  • Do “big tobacco” companies do underhanded things to sell their product, or to make them more appealing, sometimes at the medical expense of the end consumer? Yeah. That’s capitalism for you. They’re free to sell people an unhealthy product, and the people are free to purchase and consume it.

All of this marketing money would be much better spent on actual research into the end product that is delivered to consumers and on legal fees in making sure that they disclose all the information about what they are selling.

  • This site just makes me want to go smoke pack after pack after pack, ammonia, sodium hydroxide and all. People know its not good for them, but this won’t change them, it will just infuriate them.

honestly people, there are reasons people smoke other than addictions. so shut the fuck up and let people exercise their right.

  • that’s right, let everyone put down the xanga agasint a cancerous drug.
thank you Truth, I actually wouldn’t like to die from second hand smoke throat cacner like my great grandmother did.

  • I realize that red meat in high quantities is unhealthy, and that my family has a history of high cholesterol…

But I really, really, REALLY love steak.

So if I keel over from a heart attack at 37, would my family have a case against the beef industry?

The meat was delicious and I had a good time drinking blood off of my plate.

  • to the pensive poet:

you can always slip in the argument about second hand smoke, which is why im all for tobacco free buildings, which there are more and more of. but other than second hand smoke, i completley agree with you

  • Okay, this is both amusing and sad in a way.

I commented on this site before, and apparently people are still going at it like chickens. I see two sides to this debate: the “OMFG THESE PPL ARE LIKE FUCKEN SHOVING THIS STUFF DOWN OUR THROATS LETS ALL GO SMOKE AND REVOLT” group, and the people who tell those people to shut up. I am of the latter group.

“These Truth people are trying to force us to not smoke. How fucking annoying.”

They’re not trying to force you to not smoke. Get it through your tobacco-blackened skulls. All they are doing is putting out excessive advertising against smoking. It’s not like they’re going to sue you just because you smoke. It IS your decision to smoke; albeit a stupid, misguided decision, but a decision nonetheless. So stop overreacting already; just light up the cigarette and die.

“If secondhand smoke bothers you, just walk away from it.”

Two things. First of all, at the rate we’re going, there might as well be so many smokers that you CAN’T walk away from it. However, I know there are some jackasses out there who are going to ignore this, so how about Part II: If Truth bothers you, just walk away from it. Simple as that.

“These Truth people make me want to smoke.”

Again, it’s your decision. You can either walk away and ignore them, or you can light up the good ol’ cancer stick. I’m not going to tell you which to do; after all, it “IS YOUR DECISION”, but I would suggest the former. It’s less harmful and less expensive.

“There are things worse than smoking.”

True, but that doesn’t make smoking completely sinless either. If those things bother you, then make up your own blog to draw attention to the issue instead of putting down this one. Geez.

Despite all of this, the sad fact is that 99% of people who read this won’t care, will still continue to bitch at Truth, and will still continue to smoke, or at least convince others to. If you’re one of the 1% that does, then this post has been successful.

Sorry -_- I just have to argue with you -_-

A lot of the people who are “unaware” of these dangers are illiterate, deaf and more than likely already dead because they were stupid. I’m sorry, but everyone who smokes knows that it’s at the very least unhealthy, all you have to do is look at the filter. It’s true they might be addicted, but addiction is no excuse. I’m addicted I know I am but there are still ways to quit and it’s still gonna kill me whether I’m addicted or not. Poverty is also an issue that can be solved… somebody should raise awareness about that AND about how it’s only perpetuated because of how many impovershed people are simply milking the system, somebody  should talk about legislation to regulate and remedy that before ostricizing and shaming smokers and demonizing tobacco companies. They’re makin’ their monies off of people, just like everybody else. Another thing I’d just love to throw in is how many people get killed by drunk driving, alcohol poisoning, injury by themselves or some one else under the influence and the plague of alcoholism across the nation. Almost my entire school is filled with people who drink and become frothing, blithering, moronic weapons every weekend. They think they’re invincible and drive home… why don’t we take adverts for alcohol off along with the smoking, because yes, you can die from second hand smoke… but that’s a lot easier to walk away from than a drunk driver or a pissed up angry person with a gun any day.

The reason behind this campaign is admirable, granted, but… there are such better causes for this money than just telling people what they already know and pointing out useless random facts to them. I don’t care if my cigarettes are lined with all the horrible poisons in the world, I don’t care if i know that either, what I do I do because I like it and no other reason…

like eating animal leftovers from an industrial size blender packaged in their guts, anybody want a hot dog?

  • Okay

A lot of people who start to smoke start smoking in their teens.

Tobacco conglomerates actually mention these things in the 39000 secret documents revealed in the 1998 Minnesota tobacco trials.

They also mention that in order to be successful in selling their product they must advertise to teens.

Joe Camel sound familiar? Flavored Cigarettes?

Yea, advertising to teens was banned since 1998, but they still do it.

They target the teens who don’t know the effects of smoking, or try it because of peer pressure or whatever.

So seriously, can people get their facts right?

I’m glad theres a site like Truth.

    People need to know.

It’s true that tobacco companies have every right to do whatever they want because its America and its a free country blah blah blah, but there are still a lot of restrictions put on it because they lied so freaking much.

    Okay, end.

  • i think the truth campaign needs a cigarette

    so they will calm down

  • that’s cool i guess. yall should do one of these about how war kills people!

  • i support ‘truth’ for having a passion about something and wanting to share it. and i understand both sides. but i just don’t want veiws pushed on me.

  • Do you guys ever comment back?

  • I read all these comments while smoking a cigar.

  • Way to go Truth guys! Another creative way to reach the uninformed. Great job! Keep it up!

  • Ask any smoker what would happen if you tried to ban smoking, and they’d tell you you could pry their Marlboros from their cold, dead hands – if I asked you to stop harassing smokers with things they already know, would you? No? Then by all means, but I don’t want to hear any whining when one of you gets shot by some chain smoking lunatic.

  • is smokin gall truth talks about? im confused! oh like ive sed before, u dont get anything good out of smoking. but yeah, it IS your decision.

  • ooh look at me…I’m a dirty smoker…ostracize me….trust me, kids, there are a lot more things in my life that you could take examples from on what not to do…smoking is a small one.  Besides, I’m suing Miller Brewing Company for giving me a beer belly and making me sleep with a couple ugly chicks.  I mean, why not?  That’s not on their warning labels.  It’s all about driving and being pregnant.  Let’s broaden this campaign.  While we’re at it, let’s lump in fast food places, sport bikes, fast cars, low cut shirts, tight jeans…anything that could cause harm to someone else….We need to be fair in this.  If you’re gonna lobby against one thing harmful, then lobby against them all.  Oh yeah, hats turned sideways and baggy pants need to go on that list because those people make me want to kill them ….while smoking.  And, if that’s not hazardous to their health, I don’t know what is.

  • People are acting like because smoking is a choice that means it’s okay.

Should smoking even be a choice?

    Suicide is illegal.

  • You know, it looks like everybody is picking on these poor Truth kids.

STOP BEING MEANE! THEYRE JUST TRYING 2 HELP!

  • “because those people make me want to kill them ….while smoking. And, if that’s not hazardous to their health, I don’t know what is.”

    (((LOL)))

    Nice one, Jason. >.<

  • People are acting like because smoking is a choice that means it’s okay. Well, first remove your head from your ass, then realize that smokers have just as many rights as you do. Smoking is something that causes a lot less harm than poverty, driving, or retarded people like you who are trying to come off as intellectuals.

Should smoking even be a choice? Should sex be consentual? Should drinking alcohol even be a choice?

Suicide is illegal. It used to be illegal, but laws against it are sure difficult to enforce, especially since you can’t really kill a person who is either already dead or didn’t succeed in previous suicide attempts and would like to try again. But since you’re such a retard, I’ll spell it out for you and point out that everybody is going to die eventually, whether they smoke or not. However, since you seem to believe that all people who smoke die from related illnesses, I must add here that only about 20% of smokers actually die from smoking-related illnesses.

  • They’re not trying to force you to not smoke.

Of course they’re not going to sue people personally because they smoke; thetruth.org was created to mollify rabid trial lawyers and stupid widows of smokers who had made conscious decisions for various reasons.

To everyone who reads this: CONSIDER THAT THETRUTH.ORG IS AN ORGANIZATION THAT’S RUN BY AN ADVERTISING COMPANY THAT PEDDLES OTHER PRODUCTS THAT HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO KILL ITS USERS. DON’T DRINK THE KOOL-AID UNTIL YOU KNOW THE SOURCE OF THE INFORMATION THAT YOU’RE QUOTING.

  • i like you guys.

  • You realise, of course, that all at Crispin Porter and Bogusky (they sure put the “bogus” in bogusky) are just sitting back laughing at people like me, and all those other people slightly more advanced than those with the word “wow” in their vocabulary, snorting another dozen lines off a prostitute’s bosoms whilst being anally shafted by the local rent boy ? That’s what those crazy advertising agencies DO ya know !

  • Good for you all doing this.

    A

  • It is true. Though, its also peoples choice. They know that it causes cancer ect. The problem is the political and commercial power the companies have

  • Hmm, I don’t think they’re trying to force people to stop smoking… They’re trying to tell the truth about what tobacco really does to you–whether they smoke or not. If people choose not to listen, then that is their decision. And I think they’re doing a pretty good job!

  • TRUTH is boys and girls, http://www.cpbgroup.com/ care about one thing and one thing only : MAKING MONEY.

Don’t be so fucking gullible to believe otherwise.

  • where can i get the URL for this video?

  • You guys are all caught up in this smoking bullshit man. Everything in life is a hallucination. Perception man, thats all the world is around you. Visual phenomena of our own greater consceince selves.
People surrender their rights to government and you want me to worry about smoking? Just another imperialist ploy to keep people distracted.
    Wake up.
    Thats TRUTH.

  • It’s interesting how passionate you guys get. I wish I could be the same way about something.

  • I think that all this stupid cuz they should be able to do wat they want!!!!

  • “You know what, BadnarikChick, a lot of people who choose to smoke are unaware, and they’re addicted. It’s also one’s decision to murder and steal. That doesn’t make that okay. And just because poverty kills more people than all that jazz does doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try to stop deaths from smoking as well. Yeah, but smoking isnt realyl killing any one other than the person doing it.

  • I’m neutral when it comes to Truth advertising.

I’m sure that most of the majority of the population know that cigarettes can kill you. Knowledge is contagious because let’s say for example…you’re 13 years old, and you’re either a wannabe rebel, or you hate your life and you want to die. You know that cigarettes arent hard to get, and you know that cigarettes are anti-depressants and can kill you. Hey, it’ll make me feel better, but it’s also killing me! What an excellent idea. I can also be a cool kid and kill myself very slowly.

So, for some people, it may make people stop from wanting to smoke, but also for some people, it gives them an idea. But hey, I don’t care about people who smoke. My mom smokes, she knows the consequences yet it’s her decision.

No one is perfect. Well, there was this one guy, but we killed him.

  • All you people protesting are wasting your time. Just go get a drink of water… and quit freaking out over stupid crap.

  • Like I said before, this site is a wonderful idea and I think I recognize some of the main points you present from watching too much mtv. I remember the M&M and jogging addictiveness and that just made me laugh from it’s own blunt stupidity. M&Ms can be bad for you on a large scale of intake but comparing that to tobacco is just rodonkulous.

And to everyone who thinks that this site should shut down and stop what they’re doing, just keep in mind that this isn’t unconstitutional. Truth doesn’t have to stop and doesn’t have to listen to you. You also don’t have to agree. It would be nice if you did though, seeing as these people just want to help lower the death rates in America. We have a ton of problems here and sitting around and saying “Oh, well, it’s their fault for doing it” isn’t going to help. The point is to not force but press the issue and that is what Truth is doing. You wouldn’t, let’s say, go to http://www.one.org and tell them to stop campaigning against politicians who aren’t making an effort to stop poverty. You would normally tell them to keep up the good work and not let them damn politicians defeat you. You see, those politicians and leaders let poverty wreak it’s havoc and didn’t do anything to stop it until it became a big issue. Just like ‘Big Tobacco’ lied about their products and then told the truth but acted as if they didn’t give  shit about how bad they were for their consumers. There was something like this on CSI: Miami last night that went along with the same story line. “What we’re doing isn’t illegal but it’s worse than mary jane and people are dropping dead here and there after consuming our pills.” Then they kick the cops out of their houses with smug and completely guilty looks on their faces. This site isn’t about what’s legal and what’s not. It’s about death. It’s about disease. It’s about good morals. It’s about the TRUTH. The brutally honest truth.

Grab a pack of that and smoke it, suckers! : ]

  • After reading people’s comments I thought about what they were saying..you know, it’s true: smoking is a choice you make. And yeah, it does take lives. I don’t know what anyone’s problem with Truth is. Yeah, people who already smoke may not give a crap about the toll their habit is going to take on them, but there are people out there who don’t smoke or may be considering picking up the habit who are unaware. Even if Truth can’t save the lives of people who already are habitual smokers, they can prevent the deaths of those who don’t smoke and people who grow up seeing others smoke. If out of 100 smokers, Truth reaches even just one and can show that one person that they should try to quit smoking, then I would call that pretty damn successful. The Truth campaign isn’t only directed at smokers. It isn’t only saying quit smoking. Yeah, that’s part of it. But it’s informing others not to start. Saving lives of people who may have started smoking and died from it before knowing all the facts is still saving lives.

  • yea really people choose to smoke and get addicted to it and stuff,

so cool the jets……and murders HORRIBLE i think its worse then tabacco

  • I think Drakonskyr is just asking for it!

  • I this whole thing just devoted to the lies of cigarette companies, or are they going to address the other lies of our society?

Like you need to be skinny to be pretty?

Or you need to be strong to fit the male image?

Or you have to have sex to fit in?

Or you have to swear as much as you can to fit in?

Or you need to buy the latest stuff to make you happy?

Or you need to drink and party to be considered intresting?

I think you should address those issues along with the lies of Tobacco companies.

Posted 1/4/2007 6:05 AM by TruthFunny you comment on someones page who sat there and argued with you, but to the countless ones who reach out to you seeking advice about a loved one or a firend who smokes you could care less about, strange how that works…think about who you help, if that IS what your doing!

  • And I think people are getting mad because this site is advertised for truth and then you come on here and are disapointed to see that it only talks about one truth.

    Well, that’s one reason anyways.

Keep up the good work though!

  • fuck no they don’t comment back because they don’t give a shit about anything but being pretentious assholes. Yeah, cigarettes are bad, but all you guys do at Truth is spend money trying to make points that everyone already knows. I guarantee you no one has ever seen a truth ad and decided to stop smoking because of it, ever.

You cocksuckers should spend some of that money maybe setting up stop smoking clinics or something productive, that way people would think you were doing something good for smokers, not chastising them and then jacking off in the afterglow of self satisfaction.

“You know what, BadnarikChick, a lot of people who choose to smoke are unaware”

What the fuck. Honestly, are you retarded? People who smoke are unaware they smoke? Ok, ok, I’ll assume you meant are unaware of the health risks. are you fucking kidding me? You get a lovely variety of different warnings about smoking being highly unhealthy for you every time you buy a pack or look at a sign that advertises cigarettes.

  • I love the educated comments people are making.

  • first of all, nobody gave much heed to the statistic awhile back and thats only 20% of smokers die from tobacco related illnesses.

the only people getting holes in their necks and their tounges snipped out are the ‘two pack a day’ people, anything in that much excess is bad. you could die from that much CAFFIENE. then again caffiene isn’t addictive but, still.

I’m fine with people who try to present facts, but I’m extremely skeptical about thetruth.org specifically because of their tendencies to overstate the facts and fudge them for their own purposes. Google “Project SCUM” and “TheTruth” and you’ll see what I mean.

The particular ad company that does the campaign for Truth also campaigns for Sprite, Burger King, and Volkswagen. In excessive amounts, Sprite can kill some people (diabetics, for example) because of the high sugar content and may lead to obesity, which allegedly kills more people than smoking. The same applies to Burger King. Volkswagen cars are also dangerous products, since using them incorrectly can result in deaths. Indeed, automobiles kill more people who drive them or who are hit by them than do cigarettes and people who are exposed to secondhand smoke. How come nobody brings that up? (Besides, those Volkswagen ads piss me off to no end, so that just gives me more of a motive to hate you people.)

There is a way to prevent poverty: It’s called capitalism. It provides those who are at the bottom rung of income distribution an incentive to work harder to get out of poverty. If they have no marketable skills, a private charity is more than willing to help teach them skills.

As for smoking and its relation to death, it’s merely a correlation that doesn’t account for other factors, such as poverty. People who smoke tend to make less money, drink more, live in worse neighborhoods, and are more likely to be the victims of crime. There are solid statistics that back this up.

There are plenty of people who are seeking to end poverty, but they’re going about it the wrong way. They’re using government handouts (welfare) to do this while restricting the ability of private organizations such as Catholic Charities and the United Way from doing the same thing for less money.

What thetruth.org is trying to do is sensationalize facts that are already available to the public. They’re doing a pretty good job of it, too, since its target demographic (teenagers) aren’t the most skeptical people you’ll come across. That’s one of the things with which I have an issue, which is why I’m so vehemently against the existence of sites such as this one.

Man, all of you guys are wrong, this xanga is against ANY company that sells products that kills it’s clients.

Really? Then how come the ad company that runs thetruth.org does ads for Burger King, Sprite, and Volkswagens?

  •  Oh for the love of God. What are you going to say now? “Omg burgers make people fat and they’re shoved down peoples throat and blahblahblah” FUCK YOU. If you don’t like this, go away. Christ. No one MAKES you read this. >_>   Kudos to you, Truth. >=(

No, he’s saying that thetruth.org is selective in who it targets. Given what some of the fast food companies are going through right now, we can actually expect a similar site in about ten years warning us against the obvious dangers of McDonald’s (but not Burger King) and Pepsi (but not Sprite or any products from Coca-Cola).

  • And by “he’s,” I mean a_life_bizarre, not the retard who posts under the name “Truth.”

  • Man, this is a good fucking cigarette?  I wonder what’s in it?  Oh, sweet…

    (*hugs pack*)

  • I highly doubt the part of them “commenting back” part. They may just be reading this and saying “oh. that’s interesting”. This may seem like a pet peeve, gripe, moan, etc…, whatever, but other that the killing part and sucking deadly chemicals into your body every 30 minutes because you get sick if you don’t have your crutch, you smell like the inside of a sphincter. If anyone does not know the meaning of the underlined word, you can look it up on http://www.dictionary.com  Very simple, indeed. But truth is doing the same as many religions do. They get very anti and anal about it, and shove it right down your throat. That’s why I choose not to go to church anymore. I got so sick and tired of it, so (read the next part carefully) I walked away. Again, very simple, indeed. When my parents and stepparents smoke, I leave. Raising awareness, great. Same goals as helping out the environment. Shoving it down our throats, you’ll be getting the same effect that religions get. Everything is simple, to its very core. But we, being humanity, must ponder and think over it, making it more difficult that what it is created as.

  • Bummer that Truth didnt come out sooner…

“Yeah, but smoking isnt realyl killing any one other than the person doing it.”

    really?

To all the people commenting Truth & saying people are aware of the dangers of smoking, you’re completely wrong.

Posted 1/4/2007 7:11 PM by anotherFALSEalarmx
Well, the Surgeon General has posted a warning on cigarette packages since 1966, so unless you started smoking before then, you’re full of shit.

  • No one in the history of the known world has chalked bodies since Great Britain in the 1800s.
It destroys evidence at crime scenes, and serves no real purpose in a criminal investigation.
Better quest: find out why the ‘chalked body’ myth is so persistent, asshats.

  • “tobacco companies’ products kill over 20 times more people than murder does”

Ahem, proof? I love how, in anti-tobacco lobbying, all lung cancers are tobacco-related. All cases of any deadly disease that has even been linked to tobacco is a part of that statistic.

People get lung cancer, kids. If you don’t smoke, and you never breathe second-hand smoke, you can still get lung disease.

    This statistic is misleading.

Misleading people is what the Truth campaign is most adamantly against.

The Truth campaign is misleading you, in the hopes that you will no longer be misled?

Can you trust them, if they lie to you? Can you rally behind a deciever?

  • i live in the UK.

my parents dont smoke, but almost all my friends do, and almost everyone else does.

all my grandparents smoked. my grandfather died of a heart attack, i saw my grandmother have successive strokes. my other grandfather died of emphesyma and i watched him waste away. my one remaining grandmother has congestive heart failure, and wont tell her children if she has emphesyma or cancer, or both.

ive learned that i can choose not to smoke, but if i try to tell other ppl how to live their lives, it doesnt make any friends.

    i have a smokers cough.

  • poverty doesn’t kill people. It may do a lot of things but poverty in and of itself does NOT kill people. DESTITUTION and FAMINE can defintately kill people but poverty carries a different connotation.

    Now, I agree.

The people who want to smoke and die..let them. HOWEVER, let us not under estimate that this information is SO VALUABLE. We need it. Maybe they didn’t start TRUTH for honest and wholesome reasons but hey- atleast the people will die knowingly instead of “by surprise”

  • How did you guys know where to mark the bodies?

  • I second that motion.

  • Bothering me about smoking is bad for your health.

  • I agree with easterntea. But, if Truth focused on more problems than tobacco, that’d involve more advertising which would mean more money. But that would be pretty gangster.

Poverty does kill people because of its side effects. Lack of nutrition, famine, destitution, lack of education, poor medical care, poor hygeine, and various other things that have come to be associated with poverty kill way more people than smoking. That’s what I meant to say, if it wasn’t clear enough for some of you.

  • xanga cannot save the world. if you people who are so pissed that this xanga is fighting for people to stop smoking instead of obesity, aids, alcoholism or something, then you make a similar blog about what’s bothering you. so many young kids have xangas, 11 year olds on xanga! maybe if they stumble across this they’ll think about not smoking, or trying to get their parents to quit. a little something that helps is better than nothing at all.

  • these people aren’t telling you not to smoke. They’re just telling you the facts.
    and this thing’s creative =D

  • I disliked the audio used in the video.

  • when you tell people how bad something is, they get curious and decide to do it. I don’t think we should keep telling them not to smoke, maybe we should just leave that subject alone. Just place one or two ads about the dangers of tobacco, don’t go around pasting fliers saying tobacco causes cancer and that it kills, its alright to post a few commercials on the television saying that we shouldn’t smoke, just don’t overdo it.

  • I thought joe camel was an asshole…

  • And no paying job, apparently. Are you on welfare while you perform your childish acts?

  • The fighting thing is stupid. The smokers (and even some nonsmokers) that are saying that “they have the freedom to smoke” are completely right, but get this; Truth also has the right to testify against smoking. Plus, you have no justification on smoking, just that it “keeps you thin” or “makes you feel better” or whatever your argument may be. Truth has real information. FACTUAL information, and the statistics and the odds are against smokers. Totally.

    So there it is.

And secondhand smoke is a completely different issue. Living in a house where your parents are constantly smoking doesn’t exactly permit you to “walk away from it.” My dad smokes, and I’m incredibly grateful that he respects me and cares about me enough to not smoke in our home.

And Truth, despite some of the things they say, I think, is mostly about keeping teens away from smoking. Prevention is the best way to keep it from growing and growing. Plus, a lot of cigarette companies are coming out with new “flavors” that seem very attractive to kids/teenagers. Not so much to adults. So who’s targeting who now?

  • sad.. and  co ol….

“I realize that red meat in high quantities is unhealthy, and that my family has a history of high cholesterol…
But I really, really, REALLY love steak.
So if I keel over from a heart attack at 37, would my family have a case against the beef industry?
The meat was delicious and I had a good time drinking blood off of my plate.

once again i was enlightened. at least you didnt harm anyone from secondhand smoke.  my baby cousin was born with asthma because his mother smoked, not ate red meat.  eating somethign thats bad for you doesn’t harm others.

as to why dont they campaign against poverty, try this:

“why don’t anti gay marriage people campaign to raise awareness about darfur? you know, something that actually matters. why don’t they call their congresspeople about that?”

you know darfur, the place in sudan where mass homicide is occuring everyday and no one gives a shit.

at least these people are doign something instead of taking a cigarette break

  • you go, truth.

    you go.

  • Isn’t the whole point of Xanga to have a blog where you can express your thoughts, ideas, or whatever random BS that occurs to you throughout the day??

Some of you seem to have you panties in a wad over the opinions of TRUTH and the way they are expressed. How different is this then, might I ask, then the way you (BadnarikChick) expresses dislike over TheTheologiansCafe, or the (particularly ignorant in my opinion) attack of the fact a twenty year old is proud of being a single mother?

The only reason for posting negative opinions on a site like this, is wanting to draw attention to yourself and starting drama. Get over it. Seriously.

  • OK, OK… so, to the one that said “What if tobacco was never produced in the first place, then it wouldn’t be a choice right?” I have but one thing… and to everyone else that asks that same question;

if tobacco weren’t around, neither would the U.S. we exist because we got england hooked on snuff, we exist because we found one of the only unique things (of that time) that we could market. It’s tobacco’s fault that many of the early colonies survived and it’s tobacco’s fault you get to live where, when and how you want in America.

Next time you think about how horrible tobacco companies are, or how awful it is that tobacco even exist remember; tobacco is why we exist, and it’s also a naturally occuring plant (huzzah plant!) but yes, tobacco is basically the main reason we exist, YAY FOR TOBACCO!!!

My panties aren’t in any wads, but yours seem to be about others expressing their thoughts, ideas and random BS about a topic they feel strongly about. If you actually support expressing yourself on xanga, then you’re personal blog is not the only place you can, but also in comments… especially on subjects that warrant discussion. Don’t tell people to get over their oppinions right after you say it’s ok to express them…
    That’s contradictory… and sort of dumb…

  • Interesting idea!

  • I can’t believe that someone actually wrote that “tobacco is basically the main reason we exist”.  Hah, that’s just so ridiculous it’s not even worth debating.

Reading these comments gets so tiring.  It’s the same poorly written, non-sensical crap coming out of (mostly) everyone’s mouths.  If you don’t like what Truth is doing, then don’t be a part of it! Your childish arguments and angry responses just make you seem immature.  Try looking at things from a different perspective and realize that all they’re trying to do is educate and help people.  What’s so wrong with that?

  • wow, thats crazy stuff.
