In the world of Great Highland Bagpiping (my favorite instrument) David Naill brand bagpipes are the brand to have. I, being stupid and not knowing, bought a set of Naills only to hate the things. I thought they’d make me sound better but they made me sound awful! I later switched to a MacLellan bagpipe, which does almost no advertising, yet I find them much better. I think same can be said for cigarettes. They’re marketing it as “the thing” and how it makes you look cool and whatever…when in reality it’s just the opposite. They’re preying on the ignorance of their customers (much like DN preyed on my lack of piping expertise). So there you have it.
Everyone is affected by them, constantly. Whether it’s a life changing, “Wow” style of advertisement; one that makes us cringe into never ever helping support the company being advertised; or one that makes us want to rush and spend our hard earned (or sometimes not so hard earned) money on. Fact is, most of what the average American bases their opinions and possessions on, is what’s been advertised to them.
i think that everyone is affected by advertising, all the time. advertisments, music, television, it is all the base of how we dress the way we talk and what we buy. it’s always going to be that way. the media is our main source of originiality. =/ <3 cait
yes of course.
Yes. I couldn’t give a recent example, but when I was a kid I always wanted the latest Barbie shown on TV.
Most definately. One of the biggest reasons I bought a 2008 Vdub Jetta is because Vdub has some of the best advertisement ever!

I sure have, and plenty of them
well i think thats what you, being a tobacco company, want, isnt it? you think people wont find out that your truth ad campaign is actually a campaign put on by smoking companies because you need to look better.
Yes off and on, I definitely have, from those selling stuff, to those trying to get a message out. Most times however, I complain at how dumb the advertising is, wether it be commercial, billboard add or magazine. There are some really bad advertising agencies out there.
everyday
Not all the time. I don’t pay attention to certain advertisments.
well yeah.
the same way people are affected by truth advertisements people are affected by shoe advertisements or band t-shirts
the whole world is advertising
yeah pretty much!
yup. your advertizements are one of the reasons i quit smoking.
i dont wanna die.
Of course. I don’t think a single person can sit there and say they haven’t. Not even the anarchy oi oi punks.
Naturally. Advertisements would not be so popular if they were not effective.
Yup
Yes, adtertisements work as long as they hold my attention and I ultimately think that it was a clever commercial/ad.
only by things that catch my interest like TV shows and clothing. even then it never really effected me that much
of course. we all are. but in the past year, since I read The Gospel According to Larry and learned about AdBusting and stuff, not 90% as much. i’m starting to learn to make decisions for myself, not what companies tell me to want.
Absolutely. The reason money is spent on advertisments is because they work. Even if you aren’t conciously watching the ad, or taking it seriously, it works its way into your subconcious and will eventually resurface.
