PERFUME
So all the celebrities are wearing this new perfume. It smells awesome, and when you wear it, other people just like you better (hard to believe people could like YOU any more, but just go with it). There’s some chemical in it that actually makes you look hotter (uh hi – where do we get this?). So, it’s no surprise that the stuff is flying off the shelves and people just can’t get enough of it.
Well, after a few weeks, it stops working as well. So people have to wear more of it to get the effects. And after a while, some people start getting a gross rash where it hits their skin. It itches like hell. Over time, their nose hairs start melting. In some cases, people even die. And it’s not just the people wearing it who get sick, either. It’s anyone that smells it. It’s totally gnarsty, and everyone knows it, including the perfume company. But if you try to stop wearing it, you start getting uglier. So people keep buying it, and the company keeps selling it.
So when people start dying, whose fault is it? The perfume wearers? Or the company’s?

well anything that makes my nose hairs melt definitely is something i would stop wearing.
hahaha :]
for the question, both.
ew, i’d rather have people hate me.
I think that it is both the perfume company and the wearer’s fault.
Personally I feel that people who wear it after is causes a rash and makes nose hairs melt are idiots…and for a company to ethically keep that product on the shelf is even more idiotic!
What is our world coming to?
Interesting question, but it all depends on if there is a warning label like on cigarettes or alcohol. If there is then it is the consumer’s fault, if there isn’t it is most definitely the companies fault. There you have it.
Both. The companies know of the damage, but the customers are partaking in it. The companies know their product is addictive, as do the customers, but they make no serious effort to outlaw or quit it.
This question has a good point. But it cannot be directly compared to cigarettes because tobacco is chemically addicting, while this perfume is only socially addicting, which isn’t as hard to give up, especially if your nose is melting off!
Warning label or not, when the rash breaks out, your nose hair is melting and your friends are dead (although very smashing in their caskets) it is your fault. People are always going to be greedy for wealth and self-worth. Companies everywhere know their products are bad for you, but we use them continually anyway. We as consumers’ understand most of what’s not healthy for our bodies, but how many of us still eat that donut? That processed cheese? Wear hairspray? It’s not the companies’ faults. An alarming amount of companies would have to shut down to make everything coming into contact with humans and animals safe. Enough that our economy would totally crumble and shut down itself. Consumers are warned, and if they’re not, they can usually discover pretty quickly the harm in a product. So.. conclusion. Consumers are at fault.
Also, MaroonInterlude ought to take a look at their own life before assuming social addictions are so easy for people to give up. I’m sure there are one or two up their sleeve they haven’t given up.
Oh that is gnarsty for sure. I’m with JupitersMary all the way on this one…on both of her comments (assuming Mary means that is a she). Aren’t products like perfume supposed to be tested for physically harming effects before they’re put on the shelves?
gross…its both the company and the persons fault.as my friend likes to say,”looks arn’t
everything,so thats why i’m ugly.”
Mostly the company’s, I think. Though the people should take some responsibility and stop using the stuff.
In that situation, the consumers.
The company.
Especially if the company is aware of the affects.
It’s like ruining people’s lives for a living.
That’s not cool >:|
The people who are wearing it because they decided to try it.
Both.
The company knows that they’re selling dangerous stuff, they should have tested it before (not on animals, though! thats cruel!).Yet the buyers probably also know, after seeing the results on other people. Plus, they choose to wear it, just so they can look good and be popular. That’s not a good reason to risk your life.
Both .
both. people care too much about their apperance and what others think of them. i dont give a sh*t what any1 thinks about me! as long as i dont think theres anything wrong with me. its my own opinion that counts not any1 elses. but then again would it kill the perfume company to put warnig labels on their products
